big little man

So, Benjy and I went to Maine this weekend to visit Grammy and Saba, while Josh was at a swim meet in Connecticut. We had a great time, and Benjy got some real quality time with his grandparents. We went out to a Greek restaurant on Saturday night, and I wish I had a pciture of Benjy's poor terrified face when the belly dancer came by with the strolling musicians. (Belly dancer at a Greek restaurant, you ask? Who knew...?)

Today Benjy had his 2 month pediatrician appointment. He is now a whopping 12 lbs 4.5 oz--up from 11 just over a week ago. We're pushing toward that magic number that the pediatrician says doesn't exist....For those of you interested in percentiles, he is in the 67th percentile in weight and the 85th percentile in height.

Everything looked good development-wise, and Benjy got his first vaccinations today. Very hard for Ima to watch, but he took it like a champ. He's pretty much been sleeping ever since, but between the pain, the trauma and the tylenol, who can blame the little guy?

It's now time for bath and bed.

Benjy sends love to you all.

Visit from Grammy & Saba

Benjy's Grammy & Saba (my parents) came to visit today. They hung out with Benjy while Steph and I went out for brunch, just the two of us! :) When we got back, Saba took a pile of pictures of Benjy. Here's a picture of the three of us.

More pictures are at Steph's Picasa photo site (linked at the right of this blog post).

Froggy

Benjy has gotten some wonderful gifts from family and friends. This particular gift, a froggy bath towel, was from our friends J & J. Their son M loves this towel, and it was clear to them that Benjy had to have one too. :) Here, Steph, Benjy, and I model the froggy towel.

Visit from Saba

Last weekend, Benjy's Saba (my father) came to visit on his way back north from Brooklyn. He had a neat new gadget for his camera, and took several great pictures of Benjy. Here's one of them. Here, Benjy gives us his tired expression -- which features his tongue hanging out. Steph calls this the "tired tongue," which is clearly distinct from the "hungry tongue." You can find the rest in Steph's February photos.

Benjy smiles

Benjy has beeen smiling a bit this week -- a new development. He's also increasingly interested in watching stuff around him. He's been pretty interested in our faces, in his crib's mobile, and in the hanging toys in his play gym. When he's in the gym, he also seems to be waving his arms and legs sorta in time to the music. Clearly he got his sense of (non-)rhythm from me. :)
