Situation normal

Yesterday, we had another ultrasound and another appointment with the OB. This time, Elroy cooperated and showed us all of the fingers, toes, and heart ventricles that we needed to see. What a guy. Everything checked out well, so we headed back to work happy. Here's what Elroy looks like this week.

Herman poses

A few days ago, Herman was a complete crazy man. He was willing to sit for a picture, but couldn't resist sticking his tongue out at me.

As the belly grows

Yep, we've been out of touch for a while. What have we been up to? Well...

  • Flying to the Bay Area & back for Ron Gerber's 60th bday party
  • Working working working
  • Buying baby furniture
  • Watching the major league debut of Clay Buchholz (!!)
While all of this has been going on, Elroy has been growing. Check out these before and after pictures of Steph. On the left -- Steph on July 31. On the right -- Steph on August 21 (today).

Ultrasound pictures

Elroy in all his glory....

Arrr -- she beat me to it!

I was just about to break the news that today we went for Steph's 18-week ultrasound. But she beat me to the punch. Or the post, in this case.

So, as you know, we can report that Philomena is.... actually Philomenus. (Steph's mom R offered a slightly more risque version of the new fetal name, but this is a family blog, so I can't include her suggestion in this post. Sorry, R.) But, as Steph said, he'll be Elroy from now on. (Insert Jetsons reference here.) Philomenus just doesn't roll trippingly off the tongue.

Coming soon, as promised.... ultrasound images. Keep those cards & letters coming.

Elroy, Not Philomena

Well, we had the 18 week fetal survey today, even though I'm apparently not going to be 18 weeks until Monday. Everything looked good; 4 heart chambers, 2 arms, 2 legs, 10 fingers....they didn't get a good enough view of some things, so I have to go back in a couple of weeks, but looking good so far. The big news here is that Philomena isn't really Philomena. With shmeckel clear to the sonographer, Philomena is actually Elroy (he looks a bit space-age in there). Its a bit of a switch for us, since we were pretty convinced it was going to be a girl, but we're thrilled nonetheless.

N told us we'd have a shmeckel in our future. BOY, was he right. :-)

Max will have a boy cousin to play with, which I'm sure will make him thrilled.

Josh is going to post some images of the ultrasound a bit later, but I wanted to pass on the news of Elroy sooner.

We're going to have a tough time naming the tyke, but we'll jump off that bridge later. Suggestions welcome, though we reserve the right to ignore all of you.

That's it for now....we'll update you more later.
